81 Compositions (R,G,B)

“81 Compositions (R,G,B)”consists of 4 cathode ray tube TVs. Each screen plays a looping video of a fully red, green, or blue field, randomized and without a detectable pattern. A total of 81 unique combinations or compositions will eventually appear over time. Each TV’s video loop is approximately three minutes long and varies in length by 1 frame. This 1 frame offset causes a delay in repetition, completing a full loop after about one full week of running continuously. The transitions between compositions can sometimes be gentle and pleasantly animated, and other times strikingly harsh and abrupt.

Along with the TV installation, fellow artist Jacob Perkins and I installed “Pitcher vs Batter”, a projection on two paper covered windows.

This featured a looping animation I created by manipulating videos of myself doing each motion, broken into large red, green, and blue pixels.
